92. A New Year 2019: 1. Sharing of a Hobby

As we begin a new year, I want to spend this first quarter of the year exploring a new topic, which is my kind of new/current hobby: Board Games!

Over the past year or so, I have been slowly reacquainting myself with a hobby I thought I left many years ago.

A little background:

When I was a teenager, I was fascinated with reading about fantastic adventures. My staple of books and themes were:

1. Dragonlance Series by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman;

2. Forgotten Realms novels by various authors;

3. Lord of the Rings trilogy by JRR tolkien.....

Then in the late 1990s, I was introduced to Magic: The Gathering, a collectible/trading card game. Around that time, I started to also try out numerous other card games:

1. Middle Earth (based on the books)

2. Mythos (since then, similar card games like Call of Cthulhu, Arkham Horror, etc)

3. Lord of the Rings (based on the movies)

etc

I stopped all that in the early 2000's.

Mid 2017: I started getting an interest in the Board Game community again. Joined a FB page called Board Games To-Go (MY) where I started following up again on games that people are currently playing, etc. It is so fun and exciting!

Since then I have also started exploring playing some games with my then 6yo son. Yay! He was interested too. I have a "kaki" now to start playing games again!

Since then also, I started exploring a YouTube channel called The Dice Tower and The Dice Tower network, where I get the latest Board Game news and also fun, interesting reviews of Board games. The channel has been in existence for many years, so there are also plenty of historical videos to watch and learn.

Over the coming weeks/months in this quarter, I'll look at some of the following items:

1. Some books I used to enjoy reading/playing

2. Some games I used to enjoy playing

3. Some places I currently go to play games with like minded people

4. Some of my current favourite card games

5. Some of my current favourite board games

6. Some of the miniature games I currently have/play

7. Some games I am looking out for

8. Some books I am currently reading

9. Some games I am currently playing

10. Some games I am planning to start but have yet to start...

11. Some plus points of this hobby

Stay tuned for more on board gaming and related topics.... :)
