183. Time Management Series #4: How to Schedule your Week (Essentials)

Last week we filled our physical and soft copy calendars for 2022 with specific periodic life items.

This week, we look at scheduling our calendars one week at a time.

1. Block off important weekly essentials in your calendar and do that on a monthly basis, i.e. block your January schedules in December prior to the month

2. Some essentials you want to block off is to ensure the important things in your life is blocked off in advance and will not be hijacked by other potentially urgent but not so critical things:

a. Meal times (Bfast, Lunch, Dinner, a short morning tea break and a short afternoon tea break) – this may sound dumb, but I have seen many people, because they are working from home, work through meals and end up with gastric and backaches, etc due to getting hungry and not taking enough breaks to stretch their bodies, bad and not sustainable in the long run

b. Daily exercise time slots (no need to be long, but should be consistent so that your body gets the periodic workouts it needs)

c. Sleeping time (sounds ridiculous, but more important than you might imagine)

d. Agreed upon family time*

e. Admin time*

f. Chat with spouse*

*(Covered in a separate post)

Also highlight these a certain colour you will remember because these are almost all with personal implications that you are essential in your life

While it is still 4Q21, it may be a bit early to start scheduling these for 2022, but if you already have some idea, you can begin to do these for January and maybe February 2022 calendars.

As previous weeks, once the above is done….. please fill up your soft copy calendar as well…. And use the Set Reminder function in the calendar for these items if you can

Keep your pens and highlighters, we will move on next week….. see you then!
