96. A New Year 2019: 5. Some of my favourite card games

In this busy day and age, one of the easiest types of game you can pull out and play for a short time is card games. These are a few of the current card games I am playing, either with my boy, or with friends...

This first game is called KEYFORGE.

It is kind of new, and was released recently in November 2018. It is designed by the famous Richard Garfield, the same person who designed Magic: The Gathering, the ever so popular collectible card game.

Keyforge is a new type of card game, as every 37 card deck you open is unique, as in it has its own name, and the combination of cards in this 37 cards cannot be found in any other deck. Sure, individual cards may be similar, but the combination is unique. That means that, any one deck you own is sufficient for you to play with others, there is no real need to spend more to upgrade your deck or your card combinations.

I am shy to say, I still have lots to learn in this game, as my 7yo son is infinitely better than me in this game. :)

This second game is also quite new, released also in the last few months of 2018, called the Transformers Trading Card Game (TCG).

Fans of the 90s cartoon or the current swath of Transformers movies will love this game as it has great art work reminding you of your favourite characters like Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and the Dinobots like Grimlock.

It is simple in cardplay and fast in terms of time taken.

This third game that I am currently playing is no stranger to many. It is a Star Wars themed Card and Dice game, where 2 players battle it out with cards and rolling dice in an average of 30 minutes per game. The theme in this set is based on the recent Star Wars movies with the characters: Rey, Poe, Kylo Ren and Captain Phasma.

A quick and fun game to pick up.

What do you do during your free time that does not include using a phone or a tablet? Maybe you want to consider taking up card games. Wanna know more? Contact me on this site or via my FB page and we can chat further.

Until next week, take care, and happy gaming!
